#wucorienteering2022
Eline Gemperle (Switzerland) and Jonathan Gustafsson (Sweden) win the gold medals in the Sprint. It was a fast and in the end steep and tricky course in the city of Biel/Bienne, which opened the hunt for medals at FISU World University Championship Orienteering 2022. The women’s race was won by Eline Gemperle of Switzerland who was one of the favourites in that discipline. She ran a fast pace from the start and had a clean run right into the finish. Second was the Irma Nurminen of Finland only beating Céline Calandry of France by three seconds.
The men’s race was dominated by the strong sprint orienteer and World Championship medal winner Jonathan Gustafsson. He, too, did not make mistakes and kept concentration and the speed high until the very end. The podium was completed by Timo Suter (Switzerland) and Colin Kolbe (Germany).
